Tethered Spinal Cord
Question
Is a tethered spinal cord common in CdLS? My son, who has CdLS, also has a tethered spinal cord. Our Neurosurgeon did not think that he had ever known of a case where a child who has CdLS had a tethered spinal cord.
Answer of our experts
It seems that there may be a higher incidence of such spinal cord things such as tethered cord or occult spinal dysraphism in CdLS. I think we need to look more formally at this. However, treatment for a tethered cord in CdLS would be no different though, e.g. surgical release.
